FULL TEXT: New Philadelphia, Ohio, February 19. – Trustees of the Tuscarawas County Children’s home today briefly investigated the charges against Miss Clara Sterling, who drove a tack through 6-year-old Sampson Fowler’s tongue, and ordered Miss Sterling dismissed from the home.
The board had not had time to adjourn when the county board of charities appeared unexpectedly and began a separate investigation of the charges anonymously made that the children have not been getting proper food or enough in quantity.
Miss Sterling, besides being a teacher in the institution, was assistant matron.
