FULL TEXT: Paris, Oct. 1 – A woman was tried this week for throwing vitriol in the face of a man whom she did not know but had mistaken for her recreant lover. The victim lost the sight of one eye, but a Paris jury acquitted the woman. Afterward she and her lover were reconciled. After recounted these fact, a sarcastic writer demands:
“What of it? The case has been judged. Everybody, of course, ought to be satisfied.” He suggests, however, that the streets be placarded thus: “Beware of deserted women,” and also, “Beware throwing vitriol, be sure it’s the right man.”
